Job Statement

Instructs children in activities pertaining to gymnastics.  Though class instructors must teach specific skills that support DSG’s class development system, they use independent judgment in applying safe, progressional drills to teach those skills.

 Essential Job Functions

1.     Teach those skills/drills that are identified in DSG's Class Development System.

2.     Provide a safe, fun environment for children to learn.

3.     Perform related administrative procedures as assigned by the director which include:

                 Taking role everyday

                 Maintaining individual progress charts and rewards

                 Communicating drops to administration

                 Follow class rotation schedule

                 Pass out event material to students

4.     Communicate to parents the progress of their child.  This would include both written communication (progress charts) and verbal (spontaneous conversation).

5.     Follow all policies and prescribed procedures.

Job Specifications

  1. Gymnastics experience as instructor or gymnast/cheerleader.
  2. Knowledge of the sport and appropriate progressions.
  3. Ability to work independently.
  4. Ability to communicate well with students and customers.
  5. Positive outlook, demeanor, and countenance.

Performance Standards

  1. Administrative work (progress sheets, role, cleaning tasks, etc…) is consistently accurate and thorough with few errors.
  2. Maintains a professional, neat appearance.
  3. Is reliable and punctual.
  4. Has enthusiastic and positive outlook that invokes a strong rapport with kids.
  5. Communicates well with fellow staff members and parents.
  6. Models an extensive knowledge of, and concern for, safety standards in the gym.
  7. Demonstrates a willing commitment to follow policies and prescribed procedures.
  8. Is willing to learn and gain more skills.
  9. Proactively offers suggestions, new ideas, and feedback
  10. Correctly utilizes appropriate, safe and progressive teaching methods.
  11. Approaches job in a positive, enthusiastic manner.
  12. Promotes and models teamwork

Wages and Benefits

Dependent on experience.
